Making a Scene Drama Camps for boys and girls aged 10 to 17 bring together our youth for an exciting week of creativity, where imaginations are opened up, and confidence is nurtured - all in an informal and fun-filled environment. Join US this July!
Campers will be divided up into age categories 10 – 13 and 14 – 18 on the first day based on enrollment numbers.
For complete beginners as well as experienced young actors, Drama Camp is the perfect place to develop creative skills. Moreover, Drama Camp is a safe and a nurturing environment, where community is emphasized, friendship is valued, and personal growth is celebrated. Camp leaders (senior Drama students) are chosen not only for their exceptional acting skills, but equally for their proven ability to be outstanding role models for young people. Each camp features plays, monologues, mime, improvisation, theatre games, musical theatre, work with simple sets and costumes.
Camps are run by our highly qualified senior Drama Majors, and are designed and structured by Department of Drama faculty members. The camps take place in the John Mitchell Building on the campus of the University of Saskatchewan.
IMPROVISATION - Bring out the best in yourself by learning “to live in the moment” on stage. Improvisation is acting without a text – here and now! It’s great fun and, once you are at home with the technique, you will love it...forever!
CHARACTERIZATION - Become “someone else”! We’ll show you how. Unwrap those many other people you carry inside you. It’s a new world that only actors know exists: explore that inner world in creative ways!
VOICE AND MOVEMENT - Want to be heard on stage? Want your body to work for you? It’s easy – once you know how – and we’ll show you how! No special skills required: learn simple and really fun techniques for improving your voice and your movement abilities!
Before & After Care - We apologize, but we are not able to provide before and after-care services.
Medical/Behavioural Conditions - For the safety and enjoyment of all Drama Campers, please advise the Drama Department of any medical or behavioural conditions your child may have. Please also note that we are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all, and hence abusive behaviour of any variety will not be tolerated.
Nut Allergies - Drama Camp is hosted in a multi-user building, thus we are unable to guarantee a nut-free environment.
Cancellation is permitted (less a $50 administration fee) provided notice is given not less than 7 days prior to the first day of camp. No refund will be given with less than 7 days notice (except when accompanied by a physician’s note). Minimum Enrollment The Department of Drama reserves the right to cancel camps due to insufficient enrollment. In the event of a cancellation, a full refund will be provided.
