Are your kids looking for something fun and educational to do during February break? Junior recruits (ages 8-12) are encouraged to sign up for the newest edition of the Virtual Diefenbaker Spy Academy, Mission Impossible: Spies Through the Ages.
Recruits will embark on an adventure into the ancient history of spying, beginning with the covert techniques of Ancient Rome and Medieval Europe, the hidden lives of Renaissance spies and the inventions of the Industrial era that helped to advance intelligence and counter-intelligence.
Campers will participate in online learning discussions and activities that will reveal the secrets of ancient spies, like the Ancient Greek cryptography of scytale ciphers, the fancy Royal gardens designed by Renaissance spies, and the invention of the Industrial Era Morse code (that is still used today!).
By the end of the week, campers will use historical spy skills to make and break codes, transform themselves into masters of disguise, and appreciate how the past helped to shape modern espionage.
Virtual Camps will run daily from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm (February 16-19, 2021), using a combination of Zoom and Seesaw (free web-based programs).
Spy packages including program materials (worksheets and craft supplies) will be available for in-person pick up at the Diefenbaker Canada Centre on Saturday, February 13 from 10am to 12pm.
Optional shipping is available for an added cost and can be selected at the time of registration. Please register early if you would like materials shipped to you to ensure they arrive ahead of time.
Non-refundable if camp materials have been picked-up or shipped. If you need to withdraw please email confernce.events@usask.ca
