Birds in Winter - Online

Many of us like to have bird feeders in our garden, particularly in the winter months.  It's always incredible to think about chickadees, downy woodpeckers, nuthatches being able to survive nights of -30, driving snow, and extreme conditions.  So how do they do it?  In this class, we will examine the various adaptations and evolutionary tricks that birds have to be able to survive prairie winters.  We'll also look at which birds are most likely to visit your yard in winter and what you can plant to help make things more hospitable for them!
