For students who can express basic information about themselves and ask someone for that same information (name, age, address, work, profession, nationality, etc.). Counting, spelling and basic communication in class are acquired skills.
Students will review mastery of:
• Greet & welcome someone
• Indicate & ask how someone is doing
• Take leave of someone
• Thank someone
• Express gratitude
• Indicate & ask someone where they are from
• Indicate & ask someone their name
• Count from 0 to 10
• Indicate & ask about someone’s parents
Students will learn & master:
• Make & respond to statement about the kind of day it is
• Indicate & ask about the weather today
• Use kinship terms to indicate immediate family
• Indicate immediate family members using the correct suffix indicating “my”
• Indicate immediate family members using the correct suffix indicating paternal or maternal side of the family

Non-Credit course
Progress Report Card provided at the completion of the course.
Fall, Winter & Spring Terms: 1 class per week for 10 weeks, 2 hours a class.
Summer Term: 1 class per week for 8 weeks, 2 and a 1/2 hours a class.
Assessed at spoken level 2 or completed Level 1
All participants must be at least 16 years old when classes start.
NO REFUNDS once course has started. Withdrawing from the course prior to the first class, will result in a refund less an administrative fee of $75 + GST. The Arts & Sciences Languages Non-Credit Programming Unit reserves the right to cancel courses when there is insufficient enrollment, in these cases, a full refund will be issued. No transfers will be allowed from one term to another term. If a class is cancelled during the term, these hours will be rescheduled and made up. However, if a student misses a class, no rescheduling or make up classes occur.
