French 1

For students who have very little or no experience speaking French.

Students will master and learn to:

  • Introduce oneself                              
  • Ask for someone’s name
  • Indicate one’s name
  • Spell
  • Indicate one’s nationality
  • Ask for someone’s nationality
  • Indicate one’s profession            
  • Ask for someone’s profession                
  • Indicate one’s telephone number
  • Ask for someone’s telephone number 
  • Indicate one’s age
  • Ask someone how old he or she is
  • Indicate an objective
  • Ask for an objective

Evaluation

Non-Credit course
Progress report provided at the completion of the class.

Requisites

For those students who have no French speaking skills.

High school Core French graduates must have a speaking assessment done prior to registering for this course.

As well, all participants must be at least 16 years old when classes start.

Refund Policy

NO REFUNDS once course has been confirmed. Withdrawing from a course prior to the first class, will result in a refund less an administrative fee of $75. The Arts & Sciences Languages Non-Credit Programming Unit reserves the right to cancel courses when there is insufficient enrollment, in these cases a full refund will be issued. No transfers will be allowed from one term to another term. If a class is cancelled during the term, these hours will be rescheduled and made up. However, if a student misses a class, no rescheduling or make up classes occur.
