Surrendering to Salvias

With an almost astonishing diversity, salvias come in a multitude of shapes, sizes, and colours and most have beautiful flowers, foliage, or both. They are easy to grow, loved by pollinators, and are available as both hardy perennials and hard-working bedding plants. Most gardeners have grown at least one or two species of Salvia, most of which are known as sage. With over 1000 different species and available in nearly every colour, there is something here to suit everyone! Loved for centuries as food, medicine, and for their beauty the salvias are an extremely versatile and diverse group of plants that can be annuals, biennials, perennials, shrubs, or wonderful subjects for a sunroom or greenhouse! They are also the darlings of pollinators and will attract bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, (and sometimes florists) to your yard! The word Salvia means "to save"; in fact, the word salvation is derived from the same root word! Does your garden need saving? Join us for a fabulous evening exploring how these marvelous plants just might be able to do that for you!
