There are a great many people who cannot tell a bee from a wasp. Bees have gone in a very different evolutionary direction than the wasps and flies and they fill very different roles in nature. Some wasps are social and some are not. Some are helpful predators in tthe garden and others are introduced pests. A few of them work as pollinators and others are opportunists, taking whatever may be available. A wasp nest in the garden can be an inconvenience or it can be legitimately dangerous if you have an allergic reaction to a sting. Come and learn about the different wasps you may find in your prairie garden.
