Aimed at beginning and intermediate gardeners the presentation begins with the basics: soil and location. Then, planting and maintenance: watering, fertilizing, mulching and (very occasionally) staking. We continue with over a hundred of the best perennials for sun and shade, moist and dry locations; from lady's mantle to lungwort, delphiniums to daylilies and so many more. Selections is based on longevity, low maintenance, good foliage and uniqueness. From the first blue, pink or white hepatics in early spring through the clumps of ornamental grasses that compose your winter border, it's all here.
