Tansley David has been a French instructor in postsecondary institutions for over 10 years. As an instructor, her primary goal is to create an environment where students feel encouraged to share their interests and empowered to personalize their learning.
Tansley David learned French as a second language in an immersion education environment. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in French, a Master of Arts in French Literature and is in her final year of her PhD in French Literature which she has undertaken at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle. Her teaching philosophy is centred on the importance of language learning for gaining new perspectives and for enhancing self-expression. She is passionate about literature, music, and the arts. Each of these domains contribute to her lifelong pursuit of learning and serve to enrich her student’s experience of French and Francophone cultures.
Tansley on teaching: I believe that language is a powerful and highly personal tool that can be used to foster great understanding of ourselves and of one other. I have benefitted so much in my own language learning journey from instructors with a diversity of perspectives. Through their experiences, my own knowledge of the great cultural diversity of French language speakers has been greatly enriched.
